Any student in Grade 8 who resides in York Region and is interested in attending the arts high school beginning September 2016 is encouraged to attend the Open House with their parents or guardians.

"Our Regional Arts Program helps artistic students refine and enhance their talents," says John Heinrich, Principal of St. Elizabeth CHS. "Our students are given a great opportunity to learn from specialist arts teachers, and they truly enjoy developing their skills among other artistic students who encourage and challenge them. Our entire arts team at St. Elizabeth looks forward to meeting Grade 8 students who are passionate about the arts at our upcoming Open House."

Launched in 2003, the four-year Regional Arts Program at St. Elizabeth CHS offers students a unique opportunity to specialize in one of five artistic streams -- vocal music, instrumental music, dance, drama or visual arts, while also fulfilling the requirements to obtain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students may also be eligible to graduate with a Ministry of Education 'Red Seal' indicating that they attained a Specialist High Skills Major in Arts and Culture.

Application packages will be given out at the upcoming Open House. Auditions are required as part of the application process and details on this process will be shared at the Open House.

The Open House will also provide visitors with essential program details; allow time for families to ask questions to staff and current students; and feature performances and displays in dance, drama, visual arts and instrumental and vocal music.
