On September 23rd, the St. Nicholas school community celebrated the "greening" of the school's kindergarten area with crafts and activities for students, speeches by municipal and Board dignitaries, and the removal of a paved area by community volunteers.
This de-paving project supports the school's objective of becoming a more environmentally-friendly school. The de-paving project will be followed by excavation for new tree basins and the installation of tub mulch in the kindergarten area, as well as new kindergarten play equipment and the installation of trees and shrubs to provide shade. The school also plans to add a "rain garden" in the future.
The school thanks its Catholic School Council and many community partners for helping to make this event possible.
