St. Theresa of Lisieux students make an impression at Model UN event in Hamilton

This month, St. Theresa of Lisieux's Model United Nations group attended a conference at McMaster University.

At the conference, committees were organized by the university in order to debate key world issues and pass parliamentary style resolutions. Students were also given the opportunity to bring forth motions for different types of caucuses in order to bring promote their assigned countries' best interests. The Mayor of Hamilton, Fred Eisenberger, attended the conference and discussed diplomacy as well as pragmatism with the student delegates.

The delegation from St. Theresa of Lisieux CHS made a great impression. Students Connor MacCallum and Behnad Gougoushvili were named Outstanding Delegates in the UNICEF and SPECPOL (Israel Palestine crisis / Nuclear Non-Proliferation) groups. Julie Lee was awarded an honourable mention for her committee. Furthermore, in these conferences, a gavel is awarded to students announced as the Best Delegate, and Sepehr Talebi proudly claimed this award after a renowned performance in the Israel-Palestine conflict as well as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
