Cardinal Carter students celebrate Canada Reads

To help mark Canada Reads 2017, Cardinal Carter CHS students participated in a writing contest about their favorite spots in Toronto. Parmis Parsamanesh, a Grade 10 pre-IB student was selected to read her entry on CBC radio, where she also spoke about her love for reading. The entire Grade 10 pre-IB English class, accompanied by Cardinal Carter's Hooked on Books Club was also awarded the opportunity to visit the CBC studio on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 to watch the Canada Reads debate live.

Parmis' classmate, Sheetal Kapadia submitted a reflection on Toronto's Union Station and won the contest! As part of her prize, she earned her school a chance to host a special CBC session with Ali Hassan and Humble the Poet in conjunction with the annual Canada Reads book club campaign. The session took place on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Aurora school.

Sheetal's story was about a day at Union Station and the kindness of strangers that resonated with her.
