York Catholic schools marked Easter by reenacting the Stations of the Cross and holding masses, liturgies and other special events recently. At St. John XXIII Catholic Elementary School in Markham Intermediate students gave a dramatic performance of the Stations of the Cross. They worked on this collaborative piece as a way to commemorate the events of Good Friday and to remind the school community of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. This heartfelt and symbolic tableau performance focused on the lesson that we too may have our own cross to bear, and it is only when we work to help each other carry our crosses, can we grow in the image and light of Christ. By participating in this event, students were provided with the opportunity to give thanks and acknowledge the holy traditions of Easter.
