Todd Jamieson, an Oneida artist and guest speaker, recently presented to students in Grade 9 ESL Geography, Grade 10 History, and Grade 11 World Religion classes at Jean Vanier CHS in Richmond Hill.
Each class began with a traditional smudge in the school’s courtyard. Jamieson discussed what life is like for many First Nations people in Canada today, and also addressed some of the stereotypes and myths surrounding First Nations people.
In the second half of his presentation, Jaimeson showed the students some of his artwork and gave all of the students a piece of original artwork he created that they could colour and frame. The artwork represents the birth totems of the students.
Jean Vanier CHS was very pleased to host Todd Jamieson as a guest of its Canadian and World Studies Department. Thank you Mr. Jamieson!
