Holy Family CES celebrates 25 years of serving the Thornhill community

Holy Family Catholic Elementary School in Thornhill celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Mass, a reception, and an open house on June 6, 2016. The entire school community including parents, former staff, alumni and community partners were invited to celebrate the school and help mark the milestone anniversary.

The Mass was celebrated by Father Mario Salvadori. Following Mass, there were brief speeches by dignitaries and Board officials. In the afternoon, there was a reception and open house that included a cake cutting ceremony, and a display of school memorabilia. Guests also enjoyed a slideshow presentation featuring classes and teachers from the school's 25 year history. The anniversary celebration was especially poignant as the school recently went through a pupil accommodation review and will close at the end of the 2016 - 2017 school year.

Holy Family Catholic Elementary School opened at 21 Mullen Drive in Thornhill, Vaughan during the 1990 - 1991 school year. Over 450 students attended Holy Family CES during its first year under the direction of its inaugural Principal, Michael Sullivan. Today it serves almost 200 students.

Holy Family's current Principal, Henry Dillon-Leitch, said, "Our school is blessed to have very dedicated and committed staff. Their commitment to the school community is truly inspiring, as they encourage all students to work to their full potential as kind, compassionate, life-long learners. I thank our student and parent communities, past and present, for shaping our school into the dynamic, diverse, inclusive and caring place it is today!"
