St. Elizabeth student receives a 2015 WAVE Leadership Award

Congratulations to Sabrina Denicola, Grade 12 student at St. Elizabeth Catholic High School in Thornhill on her recent receipt of a 2015 WAVE Leadership Award from the Louise Russo WAVE (Working Against Violence Everyday) Foundation.

Sabrina received the award for her outstanding leadership in her school and community. Sabrina is a member of Peer Ministry, Empowering Student Partnerships, and also represents the York Catholic District School Board as a member of the Minister’s Student Advisory Council.

“Sabrina Denicola certainly is making a difference here at St. Elizabeth and we know she will make an even bigger difference in the world at large, when she graduates,” said Terri Penney, Teacher, St. Elizabeth. “Way to go Sabrina!”

Sabrina received her award at the Louise Russo WAVE Leadership Conference that was held at the Living Arts Center in Mississauga, last month.

The Louise Russo Youth Awards recognize youth that exemplify the 3R’s – Respect, Responsibility and the Role of leadership through initiatives that reduce violence in their communities. The Award celebrates and honours the qualities that are important in making our communities a safe place to live, learn and play.
