St. Robert CHS held its first Mental Health Awareness Week April 20-24, 2015. ESP students organized the week with the focus of building awareness and reducing the stigma around mental illness. The week was built around the 5 ways to reduce stigma: Educate, Listen and Ask, Language Matters, Talk About it and Be Kind. The activities for the week included using Kahoot to test students knowledge about mental illness, St. Rob’s Lets Talk Day with a live Twitter feed in the cafeteria over the lunches, speakers from Youthspeak Performance Charity, selling wristbands with the proceeds going to Kid’s Help Phone and finally actor Scott Dermondy a professional actor/clown who performed for the students in the cafeteria. Throughout the week students were encouraged to BE BRAVE, REACH OUT,SPEAK UP.
