St. Clare CES celebrates its 25th Anniversary

St. Clare Catholic Elementary School in Woodbridge marks its 25th Anniversary with two special events this month. On Thursday, May 4th at 10 a.m. there was be an Anniversary Mass at St. Clare of Assisi Parish. A week later, on Thursday, May 11th at 6 p.m., there will be an Open House at the school.

The Anniversary Mass was celebrated by Msgr. John L. Borean. Following Mass there were brief greetings by YCDSB Associate Director, Frances Bagley, and Vaughan Councillor, Rosanna DeFrancesca.

The Open House will feature a short ceremony with speeches by the School Trustee, Maria Marchese, school board officials, and friends of the school. The evening will also include entertainment by the students. St. Clare CES invites its entire school community, including former staff, alumni, and parents to its open house.

In 1991, St. Clare Catholic Elementary School opened its doors to 287 students under the guidance of its inaugural principal, Charlene James. Ms. James will be among the special guests who will speak at the Open House. Today the school serves over 350 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, offers Before and After School Programs, and has an onsite Child Care Centre. The school has an excellent reputation for its strong academic achievement, its sports teams and its active social justice club.
