SMK students signed to play football for top universities

The York Catholic District School Board would like to congratulate Grade 12 students, Cameron End, Nolan Lovegrove, and Matthew Vassos, on signing letters of intent to attend and play football at the University of Toronto next year, as well as Ben Langlois, who recently signed to play for Queen's University. All four boys play for the St. Maximilian Kolbe Mustangs Football Team.

Cameron, Nolan and Matthew declared their commitment to play for Toronto's Varsity Blues at a special signing event with coaches from U of T, St. Maximilian Kolbe CHS staff, the student athletes and their families, which was held at the Aurora school on March 6th.  After the official signings took place, Cameron, Nolan and Matthew participated in photo-opportunities and spoke with media before joining the other attendees in a reception held in the school's cafeteria. Cameron, Nolan and Matthew will receive varying athletic scholarships that will be distributed to them during their time at U of T.

On March 24th, Ben Langlois officially committed to pay football for Queen's University during a ceremony that took place in Kingston, Ontario.

"Our St. Maximilian Kolbe Football Team had an incredible season this year, finishing as the 13th ranked team in the province and 34th in the country," said Joe Gaudio, Head Football Coach. "Our games were always well attended by many of the university coaches and these boys were heavily recruited to play football by various universities right across the country. All four of these boys instrumental to our success."
