St. Michael Catholic Academy in Thornhill is home to the York Catholic District School Board's Elementary Regional Arts Program (ERAP). It will be hosting a public Open House where parents can learn more about the ERAP and obtain information about registration, on Tuesday, March 8th at 7 p.m.

student perfomance of The Little MermaidSt. Michael is a Catholic school where students' spiritual development thrives through the support of home, school and Church. Consistent with the Ministry of Education requirements and expectations, the Elementary Arts School offers a complete Full-Day Kindergarten to Grade 8 academic curriculum. In addition, St. Michael Catholic Academy provides an enriched Arts Program for Grade 4 to 8 students, taught by specialist teachers with expertise in their respective fields.

The Arts Program at St. Michael CA offers students from across all of York Region, an opportunity to develop their artistic skills, discover their passion for the arts, and expand their exposure to the arts, as part of a complete educational experience. Any student who meets the registration requirements for Grades 4- 8 at an YCDSB school can register for the Arts Program at St. Michael Catholic Academy. Auditions are not required.

At St. Michael Catholic Academy:

  • Students develop their artistic skills and enhance their interest in the arts.
  • Grade 4 – 8 students follow a rotary schedule of arts and academic classes.
  • Specialist teachers engage students in: Instrumental Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, Science, Geography, History and Physical Education.
  • There is an emphasis on Literacy & Numeracy.
  • Students are welcome to participate in co-curricular activities including: bands, choirs, an annual art exhibit, a musical dramatic production, and a variety of athletics and clubs.
  • Students wear their uniforms with pride as ambassadors of their school.
  • Before and After School Care is available on a permanent or part-time basis through Among Friends Child Care Centre.
