YCDSB taking nominations for its 2015 Distinguished Alumni campaign

The York Catholic District School Board is now accepting nominations for its annual Distinguished Alumni campaign, which features graduates from its secondary schools who have gone on to make significant and unique contributions in their respective careers and communities.

The campaign, which will be rolled out in the spring during Catholic Education Week, includes profiles of each “Distinguished Alumni” on posters which are sent to Catholic schools and parishes across York Region. Past recipients of this honour include: Artistic Director and recipient of the Siminovitch Prize, Chris Abraham; former Degrassi: The Next Generation and Being Erica Actress, Paula Brancati; Co-Founder of the Me to We social enterprise and Free the Children charity, Craig Kielburger; RBC Financial Group’s Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist, Craig Wright; and Breakfast Television Co-Host, Dina Pugliese.

“It is an honour to acknowledge the wonderful contributions of our York Catholic alumni through the Distinguished Alumni campaign,” says Patricia Preston, Director of Education. “Our successful alumni are an inspiration to our current students, and our teachers and administrators are most proud of their former students. We know our graduates lead fulfilling lives and have successful careers, and we are appealing to the public to help us recognize them by nominating them as a Distinguished Alumni.”

Selection of the candidates will be based on the following criteria:

  • All candidates must have completed high school at a York Catholic school
  • Made valuable and unique contributions in their respective careers and communities, reflecting Catholic Values
  • Possess a minimum of two years work experience in their field.

The deadline to submit a nomination is February 27, 2015. Submit a nomination
