Students go on Google Expeditions to travel the world, past and present

Students in almost 50 York Catholic schools had a unique opportunity to travel through time and space this January, thanks to the Board's 21st Century Technology and Curriculum Teams, which worked together to bring Google Expeditions, a virtual reality learning program into schools.

The Google Expeditions program allows students to go on exciting field trips without leaving their classroom! York Catholic students have been exploring places like the Great Wall of China, the moon, and Shakespeare's Verona by using Google Cardboard viewers in conjunction with an Expeditions app on the teacher's tablet. The teacher is able to send curriculum-related, 3D images, with a 360 degree panorama view, to their students' Cardboard viewer, and can point out things of interest to their class to enhance their learning experience.

You can view images and videos of students going on their Expeditions, as well as gage student and teacher reaction to this incredible learning tool by following the hashtag, #ycdsb21c on Twitter.
