Semester one music program wrap-up at Father Bressani CHS

Father Bressani Catholic High School’s music program has had a successful year so far, bringing the gift of music to many school and community events. The program encourages extracurricular engagement and support of all students and departments in Woodbridge school.

Whether hosting a sold out Christmas Concert, caroling in Kleinberg, or pioneering York region’s first high school marching band and drumline, the music program has been a smash hit.

Highlights of the busy semester included:

  • a two-day Eagle Marching Band Camp in late August;
  • a trip to Roy Thompson Hall with 120 students to see the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Torque Percussion Ensemble;
  • its annual participation in the SantaFest Parade in Maple;
  • caroling at the Kleinburg Christmas Tree Lighting, and in the school’s lobby before the Christmas Break;
  • the sold-out school Christmas concert called ; Snowed in with Father Bressani CHS’ which featured members from the student-organized Jazz Ensemble, Junior and Senior Concert Band, and the Eagle Drumline; and
  • participation at many athletic events.

The music program is also proud that one of its members, Michael Robinson, was the only York Catholic student to win a spot in the prestigious Ontario Provincial Honour Band.

Upcoming events for members of the music program include:

  • the Junior Concert Band’s participation in the Ontario Band Association Music Festival;
  • the music council’s annual Battle of the Bands;
  • and the Senior Concert Band’s 75 member trip to Boston where students will participate in the Festival of Music Competition, featuring high school concert bands from across North America.
